Challenge

MIOO set out to solve a complex problem: making bike ownership and maintenance effortless through a single digital platform. The vision required building a peer-to-peer service marketplace that worked equally well for cyclists and service providers, supported by native mobile apps, backend systems, and operational tooling.

At the same time, the platform had to be production ready from day one, operating under tight timelines and real world service demand. MIOO needed a fully functional MVP capable of handling live bookings, payments, and supplier coordination at launch, without room for trial and error.

Solution

Building a production-ready MVP

We partnered with MIOO from day one to design and build a fully functional MVP capable of supporting real-world service demand. The initial platform included native mobile apps, backend systems, and operational tooling that enabled bike registration, service bookings, subscriptions, and coordination with local service providers. The MVP was built to be production-ready at launch, allowing MIOO to operate live services immediately.

Launching a peer-to-peer service marketplace

At the core of the platform is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting cyclists with local service providers. We built flows that supported both sides of the marketplace, ensuring reliable booking, communication, and service delivery. This enabled MIOO to successfully launch with a fully booked first week of cycling services in Stockholm.

Developing native mobile applications

We built and maintained native iOS and Android applications to support cyclists throughout their bike ownership journey. The apps enabled users to manage bike ownership records, track service history, book maintenance, manage subscriptions, and receive service reminders. Over time, the apps evolved through redesigns, upgrades, and performance improvements as the platform matured.

Enabling service providers with Bike Buddy

To support service providers, we developed the Bike Buddy platform, giving mechanics and partners the tools needed to accept and manage service requests, schedule jobs, communicate with customers, and track earnings. This tooling helped scale the service network while maintaining operational efficiency and service quality.

Expanding bookings and B2B services

Beyond consumer bookings, we extended the platform to support B2B use cases, including event-based services and corporate partnerships. We built dedicated booking flows and operational support for large-scale events and enterprise clients, enabling MIOO to diversify revenue streams and scale its service offering.

Introducing subscriptions and insurance integration

We supported the introduction of a subscription-based service model through MIOO Care, providing cyclists with recurring maintenance and additional benefits. This included integrating insurance services into the platform, increasing the overall value proposition and supporting more predictable revenue.

Supporting long-term platform evolution

As MIOO grew, our role evolved into a long-term technical partnership focused on platform stability, maintenance, and continuous improvement. We supported multiple iterations, dependency upgrades, and operational enhancements as the product navigated growth, international expansion, and later consolidation.

Long-term platform evolution

In later stages, we contributed to strategic technical assessments and platform consolidation planning. This included preparing the system for new initiatives such as the Digital Product Passport, which aims to track the full lifecycle of bicycles and support resale, compliance, and manufacturer integrations in future phases.

We came to Ministry of Programming with a mission more or less impossible! Our vision is to make bicycling easy by supporting cyclists with a complete mobile bike service, managed on a peer2peer app.

To start our journey we needed a full functional MVP that supports the User, as well as our Suppliers. MOP worked days and nights with a full stack team from UX, UI, native app-dev. and back office-dev. In less than 1.5 month development, we had our launch-week fully booked with cycling services in Stockholm!

I truly never worked with a team before understanding everything from business strategy to the user needs in the same great manner as MOP. And I never before felt the engagement and energy that this team still deliver every day.
